Marinara Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 T olive oil

  • ½ onion, chopped

  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

  • 1 can sliced or whole olives

  • ¼ c. fresh chopped basil

  • 1 c. fresh spinach (optional)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 1 stick pack of Italian Zest from Signe’s Spices

Directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Add chopped onion and sauté 2–3 minutes until translucent.

  3. Stir in the Italian Zest stick pack and cook about 1 minute to release flavors.

  4. Add crushed tomatoes and olives. Stir well.

  5. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Just before serving, stir in fresh basil and spinach (if using).

  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Note:

Perfect over pasta, zucchini noodles, chicken, EZ Eggplant Parmigiana, or as a dipping sauce for bread. 🍞✨
